2019 Women's Coral Challenge Cup Semi Final Review

After meeting in the 2018 final, Castleford Tigers Women and Leeds Rhinos Women will meet again this time at the University of Bolton Stadium on the 27th after securing passage from the semi finals.
The Tigresses romped to a huge 100-0 victory over city rivals Wakefield Trinity Ladies on Sunday afternoon. Tara Stanley opened the scoring with an eighth minute try which she also converted before improving a score from Grace Field for 12-0. Another superb Stanley score was followed by braces from Frankie Townend and Sinead Peach with Georgia Roche and Emma Lumley also crossing for a huge 58-0 half-time lead which included nine kicks from Stanley.
Two further scores from Townend were followed by a brace by Maisie Lumb and a hat-trick try for Stanley as the prospect of a century became a case of when rather than if it would come. Lumb wrapped up her hat-trick before Shona Hoyle and a second Roche try made it 96-0. The fabled 100 arrived in the final minute as Esme Renyolds touched down with kickers Stanley and Claire Garner ending the afternoon with ten and two successes each.

A closer contest over at the Totally Wicked Stadium as Leeds Rhinos Women edged a 16-10 win over St Helens Women. Saints opened the scoring through Jodie Cunningham with Beth Stott converting for 6-0 before she added a penalty goal for 8-0 after 30 minutes. Leeds cut the gap with a Shannon Lacey try for 8-4 into the interval.
Saints made it 10-4 on the hour with a Stott penalty goal but were then caught out as Sophie Nuttall and Caitlin Beevers crossed for tries which Courtney Hill converted to wrap up the 16-10 win and leave them one win from back to back titles.
