After the first team suffered a narrow loss the previous night, the U19's faced off in their own derby game and sadly came away with a similar result to their senior colleagues.
St Helens went in front after 13 minutes with a try from Fleming with Charnock on hand to convert for a 0-6 lead but Wigan responded well and were level in the 22nd minute when Gregson crossed for a try which was cleverly converted by Shorrocks for 6 all.
The sides went in level at the break but St Helens regained the lead in the 53rd minute when Charnock converted from a penalty but this time Wigan were unable to respond before the visitors extended the lead with a try from Knowles with Hewitt converting for 6-14.
Wigan did reduce the deficit but it took until the 78th minute when Forsyth crossed for a try with Shorrocks converting stunningly after his effort went through the uprights after a cannon of the post for 12-14.
St Helens held on to secure the win and end Wigan's nine game unbeaten run that ironically began with the Easter win over the Saints.
