After two wins in three games in 2015, Wigan Warriors U16s made the short trip to Langtree Park to face neighbours St Helens U16s on Thursday night.
Saints made the better start of the two sides with two tries from Harry Coleman and Jordan Gibbons but Gibbons was unable to convert either resulting in an 8-0 lead. Wigan fought back with two tries from Declan O'Donnell and James Worthington with both superbly converted by Oliver Russell for a 12-8 lead.
The lead changed hands just before the interval as Harry Coleman crossed for his second try of the evening which Jordan Gibbons converted for a 14-12 lead at the break, Saints raced clear in the second half with a further three tries from Kevin Brown, Sean Croston and Jordan Gibbons who converted all three with the boot for a 32-12 lead.
Gibbons added a penalty to all but wrap up the win at 34-12 but Wigan staged a late comeback with two tries from Gary McMahon and Alex Bolton with both converted by Oliver Russell but the Saints held on for a 34-24 victory.
