Warriors Scholarship Defeated By Vikings

After suffering a tough defeat away to fierce rivals St Helens, Wigan U16s returned to hosting duties for the visit of Widnes on Sunday morning but sadly were unable to bounce back to winning ways in a 32-16 defeat.

The Warriors opened the scoring with a try from Sammy Kibula with Olly Russel converting for 6-0 before three tries from Widnes from Keenan Brand, Joe Edge and James Rutledge with Sam Freeman converting once from three attempts for a 14-6 half -time lead.

Wigan reduced the gap with a try from Zach Freer for 14-10 but Widnes restored their eight point lead with Rutledge's second try which Freeman converted for 20-10 before running in another try for 26-10 to widen the gap.

Wigan fought back with a second try of the game for Sam Kibula with Olly Russell converting for 26-16 but Widnes sealed the win with a try from Sam Freeman who converted his own effort for a 32-16 final score.
