2021 Women's Super League Round Five Review

After the round suffered an early blow with Monday's postponement of St Helens Women v Wigan Warriors Women, two of the remaining three clashes were cancelled on Sunday itself due to lack of medical cover in Castleford Tigers Women v Leeds Rhinos Women and Wakefield Trinity Ladies v York City Knights Ladies

Wolves Women Win Halts Hudds Women

The only game to survive postponement saw Warrington Wolves Women claim their first WSL victory with a comfortable 44-8 win over Huddersfield Giants Women at Victoria Park.

Warrington raced into a 22-0 lead with a self-converted try from Michelle Davis who went on to convert tries from Alice Evans, Dani Bound and Sammy Simpson. Huddersfield got off the mark with a Frankie Townend try for 22-4 into the interval.

Brogan Evans crossed within eight minutes of the restart with Davis kicking for 28-4 before Bryony Coombs touched down and Davis converted for a huge 34-4 lead. The Giants cut the deficit to 34-8 with Annabel Loney's try before Warrington rounded off their first win with a second try from Simpson (Davis conv) and late score from Georgia Sutherland to complete a 44-8 success.
