2022 Women's Challenge Cup Round Three

The final round of the group stage saw some huge scores as the top sides made their mark ahead of the quarter finals. 


Wolves Advance Despite Saints Defeat

St Helens Women completed a clean sweep in the group stage with a 54-0 win over Warrington Wolves Women at Victoria Park. The Saints raced into a 22-0 lead inside 25 minutes with Paige Travis, Amy Hardcastle, Tara Jones, Dani Bush and Carrie Roberts all crossing for tries which saw no conversions. The lead increased to a 42-0 half-time lead as Roberts and Hardcastle both completed their brace along with scores from Rebecca Rotherham and Naomi Williams which saw Zoe Harris convert twice. 

The second half proved to be a closer one as Roberts went over twice for a haul of four tries before the hour mark with a second score from Bush rounding off a comfortable 54-0 win. 

Raiders Rally Past Army

Barrow Raiders Ladies ended their campaign with a 38-0 win over Army RL Women at Craven Park. The Raiders held a comfortable 24-0 lead at the interval thanks to an Alice Rush effort and a brace from Sam Norman with Jodie Litherland crossing and converting before improving Vanessa Temple's try.

Barrow wrapped up the win in the second half with a brace from Emily Stirzaker and a second try from Temple which Rush converted for a 38-0 final score. 


Rhinos Rout Miners Rangers 

Leeds Rhinos Women completed a clean sweep with a 92-0 hammering of Leigh Miners Rangers Ladies at Weetwood Sports Park. A rapid start from the Rhinos saw them open up a 26-0 lead inside 24 minutes thanks to braces from Sam Hulme and Courtney Winfield-Hill either side of the Fran Goldthorp try with Winfield-Hill converting three times. The lead increased to 42-0 into the interval as Ellie Oldroyd and Caitlin Beevers crossed ahead of a hat-trick try for Hulme with Winfield-Hill converting twice. 

The spree resumed within two minutes of the restart as Alex Barnes crossed ahead of efforts from Tasha Gaines and Beth Lockwood with Winfield-Hill converting the lot for a 60-0 lead. Leeds wrapped up the win with Hanna Butcher, Sophie Robinson and Elle Frain crossing ahead of Winfield-Hill who in completing her hat-trick and converting sealed a 36 point haul in the 92-0 victory. 

Historic Hudds Hammer Hull

Huddersfield Giants Women romped to their highest every winning margin with a huge 114-0 win over Hull FC Women. Sadly neither side provided any score updates aside from the news that the Giants led 60-0 at half time before going to complete the massive 114-0 victory. 


City Knights Cruise Past Wounded Warriors

York City Knights Ladies made it two wins in a row as they romped to a 46-0 win over Wigan Warriors Women in a game played between rounds one and two. The hosts raced out of the blocks with Savannah Andrade crossing and Tara Stanley converting for 6-0 inside three minutes. Hollie Dodd and Ashleigh Hyde touched down either side of the half hour mark with Stanley adding a conversion for 16-0 into the interval. 

Dodd wasted no time in completing her hat-trick as she crossed twice in the space of five minutes within the restart before Sinead Peach went in for a brace and with Stanley converting three attempts and Olivia Whitehead once, the lead was 40-0. The gloss on the win came in the final minute as Whitehead crossed and converted for a 46-0 final score. 

Braces For Bulls Over Dewsbury Moor

Bradford Bulls Women ended with a win as they secured a 22-4 win over Dewsbury Moor Ladies. The Bulls struck first with Hannah Donald crossing for 4-0 before Chloe Broadbent ran the length of the field to level at 4-4. Bradford regained the lead with a try from Jess Harrap before Lily Williams crossed and Donald converted for 14-4 into the interval. 

The second half proved to be a closer one as Harrap and Williams both completed their braces to wrap up the 22-4 success. 



Rovers Trounce Tigers

Featherstone Rovers Ladies sailed into the last eight with a huge 86-0 win over group seeds Castleford Tigers Women. Fev raced into a 24-0 lead inside the first quarter thanks to tries from Hannah Watt, Chloe Billington, Brogan Churm and Fran Copley with Katie Hepworth converting twice. The lead was a whopping 42-0 into the interval as Kirsty Duffield and Amie Backhouse crossed ahead of a second score for Watt with Hepworth converting the lot.

The spree resumed within eight minutes of the restart as Lucy Attree touched down ahead of a second and third from Churm which sandwiched Charley Blackburn's effort with Hepworth converting three times for 64-0 on the hour. The thunderous win was completed with Copley completing her hat-trick, Billington sealing her brace and Olivia Grace crossing late on with Hepworth ending the afternoon with 11 conversions in the 86-0 triumph. 

Raidettes Stun Trinity

Oulton Raidettes defied the fourth seeds tag to seal a spot in the last eight with a narrow 14-12 win over Wakefield Trinity Ladies at the Be Well Support Stadium. Oulton struck first with a brace from Eva Izumi to open up an 8-0 lead which in tightly fought first half lasted into the interval. 

The second half saw Trinity get off the mark through Lauren Harvey with Lisa Taylor converting for 8-6 before Dani Rose crossed for Oulton to make it 12-6 on the hour mark. Both sides were reduced to 12 as Izumi and Abby Price were sinbinned and the sides were soon level as Libby Priestley touched down and Taylor converted for 12-12. The visitors had the joyful ending though as a penalty goal from Caitlin Casey made it 14-12 and sent the Raidettes into the quarter finals.
